Michelle Bachmann’s spin

Filed under: Patriotism — nomarginforerror @ 8:48 pm

Michelle Bachmann on a conservative radio show:

[Chris Matthews] took my words. Twisted them… He laid a trap and I walked in, unfortunately.

The show was Dennis Prager. He didn’t question what the trap was or at least admit that there is one conservative who does question the patriotism of liberals. Go figure.

This rant isn’t technically questioning anybody’s patriotism, but I thought that I might include it just for fun:

Joe Biden has already said that we should be patriotic and pay more taxes. How far do you have to stretch that attitude to imagine somebody saying that people who are too infirm to perform any useful task should do their patriotic duty and die and that there would be a bureaucracy formed to decide who should be euthanized and when?

What liberal entertainer has said anything that profound?

Here we go again…

Dennis Prager, are you going to admit that this conservative questions Barack Obama’s patriotism:

I do not trust McCain; I think his judgment is erratic and impetuous, and sometimes wrong. But on the big picture, he gets it. He will defend America and the free world whereas Obama will undermine them and aid their enemies.

The article was approvingly linked by Kathryn Jean Lopez at NRO.

Liberals hate real Americans…

Filed under: Patriotism — nomarginforerror @ 2:49 pm

Those are the words of Representative Robin Hayes. Mr Prager, I eagerly await your spin.

He yielded the microphone to Representative Robin Hayes, who prefaced his comments by saying it was important to “make sure we don’t say something stupid, make sure we don’t say something we don’t mean.” Republicans, he reminded the crowd, were kind people. Plus, he added, the liberal media had shown itself eager to distort such remarks. With the crowd duly chastened and put on best behavior, he accused Obama of “inciting class warfare” and said that “liberals hate real Americans that work and achieve and believe in God.”

Slashing tires

Filed under: Miscellaneous — nomarginforerror @ 7:57 pm

Dennis Prager is positive that liberals are more prone to vandalizing cars that are pro-Obama. He has never offered evidence to support this conclusion. To the best of my knowledge, he has never even offered anecdotal evidence. Well, here’s one reported incident that he probably didn’t hope to come across:

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Authorities say someone slashed tires on at least 30 parked vehicles while their owners were attending a Barack Obama rally in a North Carolina coliseum.

The tires were cut Sunday outside Fayetteville’s Crown Coliseum, The Fayetteville Observer reported Monday.

Rep. Michele Bachmann on Hardball

Filed under: Patriotism — nomarginforerror @ 12:35 am

Here’s another conservative calling Barack Obama unpatriotic:

REP. BACHMANN: It’s important because we look at the collection of friends that Barack Obama has had over his life, and usually we associate with people who have similar ideas to us. And it seems that it calls into question what Barack Obama’s true beliefs and values and thoughts are — his attitudes, values and beliefs with Jeremiah Wright on his view of the United States —

REP. BACHMANN: — which is negative; Bill Ayers, his negative view of the United States. We’ve seen one friend after another. It calls into question his judgment, but also what is it that Barack Obama really believes? And we know that he’s the most liberal senator in the United States Senate, and that’s just after one year after being there. He’s the most liberal. Joe Biden is the third most liberal. You’ve got Harry Reid who’s liberal, Nancy Pelosi who’s liberal.

Why does Dennis Prager continue to deny that this sort of thing happens?

Sarah Palin only considers some states to be pro-America

Filed under: Patriotism — nomarginforerror @ 5:31 pm

Despite Dennis Prager’s frequent assertion that conservatives do not question liberal’s patriotism, Sarah Palin has apparently not gotten the message. I do wonder how Prager can spin this one.

Washington Post:

Palin also made a point of mentioning that she loved to visit the “pro-America” areas of the country, of which North Carolina is one. No word on which states she views as unpatriotic.

About that Joe the Plumber exchange…

Filed under: Economics — nomarginforerror @ 3:10 am

Dennis Prager on Thursday’s show:

“They don’t offer that the policy will help. That’s not even their argument. They don’t even make the argument it will help the economy. Have you noticed that? They never make that argument. The argument to Joe the Plumber – which is why the Joe the Plumber thing was so important – was not ‘Well Joe you have to understand the reason I want you who has worked 10 to 12 hours a day, the reason I want you to pay more money in your plumbing company because you earn more than $250,000 is that it will be better for the American economy…’ he didn’t say that.”

The reality is a bit different. Barack Obama did say to Joe that his policy will be good for the economy. In the now infamous exchange, Barack Obama said,

“My attitude is that if the economy is good for folks from the bottom up, it’s going to be good for everybody. You’ve got a plumbing business. You’re going to be better off if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you. And right now everybody’s so pinched and business is bad for everybody and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Dennis Prager is under no obligation to agree with Barack Obama’s economic philosophy. It would be nice, however, if he reported the exchange accurately.
